Pantene Pro-V Truly Relaxed :: I Tried It!

Like many women, I’ve spent my fair share of time going from product to product trying to find something I really like. Although I usually use different products, when the opportunity arose for me to try Pantene’s Truly Relaxed hair care line, I was excited! The products I usually use cost anywhere between $18-$20 per bottle, so I was intrigued at the possibility of finding a less expensive product that would give me the results I liked.

The line consists of 4 products: Lightweight Shampoo, Intense Moisturizing Shampoo, Moisturizing Conditioner and (a leave-in) Oil Creme Moisturizer.

When I used the products, I first tried the Intense Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Oil Creme Moisturizer before styling. I like the smell and definitely liked the moisture I felt in my hair, but since I usually to a pre-shampoo deep condition with coconut oil, I ended up preferring the Lightweight Shampoo for general use.

Although my hair isn’t technically ‘relaxed’. On a bi-annual basis I use a chemical straightening process and although it’s not as damaging as a traditional relaxer, any chemicals in one’s hair can cause damage. Because of that, using products that protect and moisturize my hair is very important to me.

My favorite product in the line was the Oil Creme Moisturizer. I used it before styling (blowdrying and flat ironing) and also used it daily to refresh my hair and give it a delicious scent! I used just a pea-sized amount and rubbed it between my hands and then through my hair. It doesn’t leave any type of oily residue or weigh hair down, so that’s a definite plus for everyday use!

Retailing between $3.50 and $6.00 per item, I’ve decided I’ll definitely purchase the product line for myself for use in the future. Having a well-priced line that one really likes is fantastic for any hair care collection!

Do you use Pantene? Have you tried either their Truly Relaxed or Truly Natural lines?

My Minty Manicure

I got some NCLA Nail Colors from a friend of mine as a gift and couldn’t wait to use them! I love the minty green shade “Santa Monica Shore Thing”, it’s perfect for Spring! I decided to give my ring-fingers a little glittery accent using the silver glitter “Hollywood Hills Hot Number”. It has big and small sized glitter which I adore!

Rusk Sensories Clarify Rosemary and Quillaja Detoxifying Shampoo for Unisex, 33.8 Ounce

Rusk Deepshine Smooth Keratin Care Smoothing Conditioner 33.8 oz.

Rusk W8less Multi 12 in 1 Treatment 6 oz.

In order to keep my hair healthy I only wash, blow dry and straighten it every 4 days. I know several people who blow dry and straighten multiple times per week, but that can be very damaging to hair, so I’ve found that I can keep my hair clean and healthy (and growing!) by only using heat occasionally.

When I do my hair I tend to follow the same process each time.

As you can probably tell from my favorites, I am a total brand loyalist. I used to jump from product to product trying to find the perfect one, but now that I’ve found products I love, I am sticking with them!

I start off my hair ‘ritual’ by doing a pre-shampoo deep condition with coconut oil. I part my hair into four sections and apply coconut oil to my scalp in 1/2-inch pieces and then massage it in. I then apply coconut oil to the ends of my hair and comb it all through. I then pull my hair up into a bun and let it sit for about 30 minutes. (I usually apply a face mask in that time).

When I’m ready to wash my hair I generally do it twice to be sure the oil is completely out of my hair (otherwise it will remain oily). I adore the RUSK Clairfy shampoo! It smells so fresh and it gets my hair really clean.

I condition my hair with RUSK DeepShine conditioner and tend to leave it in for about 5 minutes in the shower. It’s very moisturizing and smells wonderful as well.

When I’m ready to blow dry and straighten, I spray RUSK 12 in 1 into my towel-dried hair, comb it through and let it air dry a bit before I actually start to blow dry it. The 12 in 1 product is a leave-in product that controls frizz, smooths, detangles, moisturizes, strengthens, adds body and acts as a heat protectant.

These products are my go-to items and I’ve repurchased them all several times. I started using the RUSK line about a year ago after I started with my Anti-Curl Kerashine treatments.

What are your favorite hair products? Do you stick to one line or are you always trying new products?

Monday night I attended a press conference during which Fashion Week San Diego announced the designers that have been selected for the 2013 fashion show. It was absolutely fabulous and made me so excited for this year’s upcoming events!
