Resolution: Spend more QUALITY time! : featuring “Show Me How” Review and #Giveaway

Show me How

“Show me How” is the first book in the Positive Parental Participation series. It helps children “build self-esteem through reading, crafting and cooking. It is 256 pages of quality activities, recipes and easy ways to enrich time with your child.

My son is nearly 4 and I definitely give him a lot of freedom. He’s at an age where he wants to be independent one minute, and a baby the next. He often helps me in the kitchen with small tasks during dinner, and loves it! Working with your child and doing these things together not only make for memorable moments, but are also great life-skills activities.

“Show me How” is organized into sections with recommended snack recipes, craft ideas and talking/interaction points to go along with wonderful age appropriate book recommendations.

As a parent and book lover, this definitely has a home on my shelf. It’s sure to be one of your go-to books as well if you have a child between ages 2-5. The rest of the Positive Parental Participation series is highly anticipated and I am one of those anticipating the next book release!

Positive Parental Participation

The “Show me How” book:

  • Outlines a simple step-by-step schedule that provides a balanced and harmonious day.
  • Pinpoints 100 picture books every young child needs to hear and helps develop pre-literacy skills.

Live 2011 as though it were “The Last Year of Your Life” Book Review and #Giveaway #NewYearNewYou

The Last Year of Your Life by Clint ArthurThe Last Year of Your Life by Clint Arthur is a 52-week self-directed personal exploration and life enhancement experience.

The book asks of the reader: What would you want to accomplish if you only had 52 weeks left to live?

To be honest, when I read the title aloud to my husband he was instantly pessimistic. He said: “I don’t want to think about death, I’d rather think about life.” And that, in essence is truly what this book is about.

It’s easy to be dragged down by the negative in life, but to truly embrace each single day is what I am taking from this book.

It is a 52-week journey, and the preface of the book says not to skip ahead! Each chapter is to be done a week at a time, and I’m sticking to it even though it’s so tempting to read-on.

The chapters of the book include: ‘Really feel unconditional love for yourself’, ‘Amplify Your personal power by being All-In’, ‘Develop a Personal Vision for your life’, and ‘Appreciate your Life Experence’…(for the full list, click here.)

I’ve definitely enjoyed the experience so far and it is definitely helping me find a balance between doing things for others and remembering to do things for myself!

One of the very first tasks in the book is this: List your 7 most favorite foods. Eat one each night this week.

Isn’t that a wonderful idea?

I enjoyed it, and even found that my family shares my love of broccoli soup & it’s going on the dinner menu!

The author of the book, Clint Arthur developed this workbook from his own life experience.

After graduating from the Wharton Business School he chased the Hollywood dream for 10 years and ended up deep in credit card debt, driving a taxi to survive, and terrified that he would never be able to turn his life around or achieve any of his true potential. One day a crippled old man said something to him that changed his life forever: “You don’t know it yet, but you’re already dead.”

Arthur thought about that obsessively for weeks and weeks, but could not figure out what he meant…

Then it came to be New Year’s Day, and when he sat down to write his annual list of goals he asked himself an amazing question: “What would you want to accomplish if this was going to be The Last Year Of Your Life?”

That question obliterated his procrastination, fear, and doubt, and catapulted him into massive action…

I am enjoying my journey through this book so far and look forward to continuing throughout this year.

Babushka’s Beauty Secrets Review & Giveaway

I was so thrilled when I received this book to review. Just last week I wrote a post naming some great natural Beauty Tips from Mom where I listed great little natural things my mom has taught me over the years. This book falls perfectly along the same lines, it’s a natural beauty goldmine!

The pages are filled with great at home recipes to keep you looking fabulous. What I like best is the fact that there are options for everyone in this book; face masks for oily skin, for dry skin, hair masques for dry hair, limp hair, dandruff and so much more!

The book has a great list of ‘things you’ll need’, most of which you can find in your kitchen and quick recipes that are easy to follow. All the pages are filled with great little tips, tricks and anecdotes.

I cannot wait to try everything in this book, but so far I have tried the Incredible Egg Conditioner and loved it! Using these recipes make pampering yourself easy, affordable and fun! I know you ladies will have a blast with this book. Invite your mom friends and make it an all natural spa night! (There are great ideas for that in this book too!)

Here’s some more info from the publishers:
