AdoreMe : Your Personal Lingerie Showroom

It seems like subscription sites and services are all the rage right now!

I don’t think all subscriptions services are worth it, because if you subscribed to all of them then you’d never do any shopping of your own! I am subscribed to a few (JewelMint etc.), and recently found out about Adore Me.

I have to admit that lingerie shopping is something I don’t spend a whole lot of time on. I usually try to do my clothes shopping on my own so that I have time to try things on, but I don’t always get that luxury and trying on 8 bras in Victoria’s Secret with my 5 year old son in tow is just NOT going to happen.

Adore Me works just like most subscription sites: you take a style quiz, and they generate a monthly showroom of styles that you might like. They have sizes from 30A to 40DD which means there’s something for everyone. Also, when you order, the tops and bottoms sizing selections are separate so you can get the perfect fit.

I signed up for Adore Me a few months ago, but I haven’t made my first purchase quite yet….I’m so indecisive! In addition to lingerie sets, each monthly showroom also features hosiery, corsets, babydolls and  AND now for the Summer….swimwear! (There’s actually a two-piece I’ve been eyeing…maybe that’s what I’ll order!)

I’ll probably make a purchase soon, and I’ll be sure to follow-up with a quality and experience review. :)

At $39.99, I think the price is reasonable provided the quality is good once I order.

What monthly subscriptions do you have? I recently learned about a few I want to try including some kid-related ones!

Sh*t I am Decidedly Too Old For

I went shopping last week in hopes of finding some jeans. I didn’t have much time on my hands since my son was with me, and I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money so I stuck to a few little shops in the mall (shops who shall remain nameless). As I was looking through the selection of jeans at each store, I had an epiphany! I AM TOOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT! You may be asking yourself….”What shit?!”

This shit:

At the ripe old age of 24, I am decidedly too old to be wearing jeans with friggin’ rhinestones on them. I’d like to make a generalization and say that NO woman over the age of 22 should be wearing jeans with rhinestone embellishments….but to each his (or her) own I suppose.

I also have decided that I’m too damn old to be wearing jeans that have already been ripped in various locations. I never was really into the whole “pre-ripped-jeans” trend and I definitely would wear some ripped jeans….I’d just rather not buy them that way. (omigosh I sound like such a mom!) But seriously…

Jeans should just be jeans. Why all the extra craziness?!

The upside to this rant is that I actually found an acceptable pair of jeans that day while shopping. I say decent because they were the best thing I could find among the vast selection of ridiculous nonsense in the mall. Sort of like a “lesser of two evils” type o’ deal.

Since that day I started thinking about other things that I feel “too old” for as a (nearly 25 year old) mother and self-employed individual. I also felt like I should perhaps impart these tidbits of wisdom to anyone else my age who needs a little wake-up call. I came up with the following 3 things….

Here’s the list:

#1. Any ringtone that doesn’t sound like a phone is ringing. Or at least some derivative thereof. [Come on....seriously?! How many times have you been in the bank or somewhere and a grown ass person's phone rings and you hear 30 seconds of Nicki Minaj or Britney Spears?! THIS is unacceptable! (AND awkward) If you're over the age of 21 please adjust your ringtone.]

#2. The “Hipster” Trend. When did it become cool to appear un-showered?! I totally understand expressing yourself through fashion, but TOMS with your toes poking out and scraggly hair that looks like it’ll be dreds in a week if you still refuse to brush it is outrageous! GET A JOB! Oh wait….you can’t because you look like an unreliable d-bag.

#3. Facebook/Online Drama. I thankfully have ZERO drama and I like to keep it that way. I do however occasionally see “friends” blasting their hate or disdain for others all over the web. Here’s a tidbit of information for you…keep it to yourself. Furthermore, if the people causing drama in your life are privy to your Facebook wall, UNfriend them! You are grown….YOU have the power to remove toxic people from your life (and your wall) so DO IT and do us all a favor.

Alright. Rant complete.

:)

The Best Beauty Buy of them ALL! [I love eyeshadow quads.]

This Fall it’s all about beautifully bright colored lids! It’s exciting that bright shadow is in because that means we get to experiment more with makeup! I’m a big fan of colorful makeup, but more than that I’ve realized my favorite thing in makeup is currently: the eye shadow quad.

The thing about the quad eyeshadow is it allows you to create a perfect look every time! You don’t necessarily have to use all 4 colors each time, and no matter what you do the colors are complementary to one another so you can’t really go wrong.

Almost every makeup brand makes an eyeshadow quad so they’re easy to find and not expensive at all!

Here are a few of my favorites…I love the new colorful blue & purple quads for Fall.

What’s your take on colorful eyeshadow? Do you usually stick to the smoky look? Do tell! I [heart] comments!
