I have wanted to try the Sally Hansen Salon Effects for a while now but I usually get shellac on my nails every 3 weeks or so, and whenever I see them in stores I don’t see a pattern I like so I haven’t made it a big priority to try them out.

Last night I was at Big Lots buying notebooks, and saw that they had Salon Effects for only $3. I don’t have shellac on my nails now so I figured why not give it a try?

They were pretty easy to apply although I sort of felt like if I had purchased a patterned set it might be harder to maintain the pattern consistently because you may have to stretch the nail color strip to fit on certain nails. This also is tricky because I ripped a few while trying to stretch them a bit.

The set comes with 16 strips which I feel is a bit of an odd number. Firstly, you’re sure to rip a few (especially the first time) and second, I think the traditional retail price of (around) $9.00 is a little steep for what is really just a one-time nail color application.

I bought the violet color because it was the only color they had at Big Lots, but I think I would probably buy a patterned set (at regular retail price) to wear with a special outfit or for a particular event.

These are supposed to stay on up to 10 days, so I suppose I’ll see how well they last.

Have you tried the Sally Hansen Salon Effects? If so, what is your favorite color/pattern?

xoxo,

Disclosure: I bought this myself. These opinions are my own.
